Is it possible to love your job, even if you don’t really like it? Of course it is!
No job is perfect, but there’s always something you can find to enjoy that will keep you motivated (FREE DOWNLOAD)! Remember, YOU are responsible for how you feel at work, and if leaving a job isn’t an option right now, consider these six steps to finding happiness and peace in your career, even on your toughest days:
1. Plan Your Day
Creating a schedule for each day can help to make the time go by faster. Instead of watching the minutes tick down, you know exactly how the flow of the day will be and can look forward to that final item on your to-do list.
2. Take One Task at a Time
If things around you at work aren’t pleasant, keep your focus on one task at a time. Having tunnel vision can help to block out any of the negative elements that are causing you to stress.
3. Contribute to the Environment You Want
If your work environment isn’t what you want it to be, try to change it. Be the positive influence, mentor, leader, and employee that you think would make the company a better place. Some people might just follow your lead, teaching others about happiness where you are at!
4. Find Your Favorite Things and Latch Onto Them
Every job has its bright moments. Think hard about what you really love about the job, then savor those things each day. Little positives can diminish the negatives and keep you motivated to do your best work.
5. Leave Work at Work
Don’t bring work (and the negative feelings about work) home with you. Leave any problems at work and switch off your mind so that work doesn’t intrude on your personal life. You’ll be a lot happier for it and less likely to resent the job.
6. Remember You Are More Than Your Job
Your identity is not in the work you do, so don’t let it control other aspects of your life. Your job shouldn't be a direct reflection of who you are, and when you realize this, you will be able to enjoy your job more.
